Prompt: 5
Time: 16 minutes

It took months before Ratchet could speak to Wheeljack again without wanting to curl up in a corner of the medbay and deactivate.  He couldn’t say exactly when it happened, only that when Wheeljack poked his head round the medbay doors and asked Ratchet if he could spare a minute, Ratchet just smiled and agreed.  It was only later when he was cycling down for recharge that he realised.  He didn’t feel awkward around Wheeljack any more.  In fact, it felt like he’d had a huge weight lifted from his spark.

He settled down to recharge with a smile on his lips.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Wheeljack vented a sigh as Ratchet left to return to the medbay.  The medic’s help had been invaluable with the project he was working on.  Things had been awkward ever since Ratchet had confessed to his crush.  Wheeljack felt bad about turning him down, but he really wasn’t interested in the medic that way.  At first he thought he might have been, but he soon realised that he’d far rather have Ratchet as a friend.  And things had been great.  Up until that moment.  Then everything had gone wrong.

Ratchet had avoided Wheeljack as much as he could.  Which Wheeljack had hated, but he didn’t know how to make things better.  He figured that it would just be something Ratchet had to get over.  And he’d been right.  The medic had definitely seemed different today, more… carefree and back to his normal self.  And Wheeljack was happy about that.  It felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.  A weight he hadn’t even realised was there until Ratchet had returned to normal.  Only then did he realise exactly what impact that rejection had had on Ratchet.

Hm...this is an interesting development, and I think your analogy of them both having a weight on them after the revelation is very interesting.

I'm definitely happy to see that the weight that both of them were feeling has left them somewhat. :)
