houndxmirage Three's a Charm challenge. I shall be attempting a drabble (100 words) every day. Feel free to poke me (gently) if I miss a day? And this does have mod approval :)

December 5 – corrode
“Mirage!” Mirage looked up guiltily as Hound entered their quarters.
“It was flaking anyway.” He said defensively.
“Mirage…” Hound sat down on the berth and took Mirage’s hands in his. “I know it itches, and I know the corrostop takes time to work, but if you keep scratching, your plating will corrode, and believe me, it’s not nice when that happens.”
“Just wish it wouldn’t itch so much.”
“Cosmic rust is like that.” Hound gave a small apologetic shrug. He supposed he’d been lucky to build up a resistance to it, so he wasn’t as badly affected as the others.
