When Glorfindel returned to Arda, he hadn’t quite expected to be as young as he was.  And he hadn’t expected Arwen to take his precious horse and ride to aid the hobbit Frodo.  That was something he should have done.  Except he was currently stuck as a ‘teenager’.

When the Fellowship finally returned to Rivendell, he was able to celebrate with the others.  The seasons turned and they were persuaded to stay with the Elves, lest the snow make their journeys home more perilous.  Which was how Glorfindel found himself engaged in a snowball fight with Pippin, Merry, Legolas and Gimli.  How Legolas had persuaded the dwarf to play, Glorfindel decided he didn’t want to know.  But they were, and teamed up against Glorfindel and the two hobbits were quite a formidable team.
“Give it up laddie, we’ve won!”
“Never.  I faced a balrog and didn’t back down.”
“You did?”
“Of course he did Pippin.  That’s what he told us remember.”
“Did Lord Glorfindel also tell you he died fighting that balrog?” Legolas called out, prompting a laugh from Gimli, identical shocked looks from Merry and Pippin and a glare from the young Glorfindel.
“We surrender!”
