Rating: PG-13
Series: G1
Pairings/Prompt: G1: Ratchet/Prowl – treat – we'll grow old and rusty together
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: As per usual, the good things in life are not mine to have, but belong to someone else... in this case Hasbro, Takara and IDW and anyone else I’ve forgotten…
Authors Notes: I had fun doing the prowlxjazz Anniversary Challenge, if no one else enjoyed reading them. So when tf_rare_pairing announced their October challenge, I thought I might try something similar. Though this is going to be different as I have to write on a daily basis again. But that was fun when I did it before (both times). So yeah… wish the ever-more-eccentric one luck?

“Tell me again why the frag I’m out here?” Ratchet growled, ducking down as the seekers above completed another strafing run.
“Because you are needed on the base, and I am meant to ensure your safety there.” Prowl replied, rifle trained on a seeker.  He fired, clipping a wing and sending one seeker down in a spiral of smoke.  Ratchet just grumbled.
“You just thought we could interface on the way.”
“That too.” Prowl allowed, taking aim on another seeker.  He didn’t fire though.  “Ratchet?” He turned to face his lover.
“I don’t want to die like this, Prowl.” Ratchet muttered.  “If I’m going to deactivate, I want to go out fighting, not cowering, pinned down by fragging seekers.”
“We’re not going to die out here, Ratchet.” Prowl promised, reaching for Ratchet.
“How do you know?”
“Because we’re going to grow old and rusty together.” Ratchet harrumphed at that.
“We’re not growing rusty if I can help it.” He shot back, but he smiled at Prowl, grateful for the reassurance.
